As I was making dinner last night, I went to throw away the papery peels from the garlic. When I push open the trash can a cloud of fruit flies came out into my face, they landed everywhere. The power cord to my phone was covered with fruit flies, my wine glasses on the shelf above the trash can were covered, the toaster was covered. I felt like I was covered with fruit flies, it made me twitchy and extremly creeped out. After shooing the imaginary flies off my face for ten minutes, I decided that it is really about time that we started composting. So I started a bin to collect all of the vegetable/fruit scraps instead of putting them in the trash I will put them outside in a compost heap. That will be good to spread over and into my gardens.
